All You Need Is Love! – Giveaway now CLOSED

Well a belated Valentine’s Day to this side of the world.  Happy Valentine’s Day to you all who are currently still on the 14th of February.  I had high hopes of completing my little Valentines lovely yesterday, but I attended a Steiner/Waldorf doll making course which started last night.  I have had to forgo yoga this term, but I have wanted to make a doll for such a long time, I couldn’t put it off any longer.  It seems all the good things in life happen on the same day at the same time around here!  Hopefully I will have a doll to show you after the six week course!

So here tis’.  They can be drink coasters, a small banner whatever you want to make of them.  If you love it, leave a comment, the LOVE could be yours!  Only 1 set available.  Love is all you need! (Aww, thanks Beatles!!)  Comments will be open until Friday 18th February.

An Industrious Weekend

We have had a very busy weekend.  Greg worked on our new decking, which is almost finished.  I spent the weekend painting the spare room which will soon become Tenneille’s bedroom.  The original paint colour in the house is quite dark, so it takes at least 3 coats to cover.  My arms are feeling my painting efforts. Hope to have some photo’s to show you soon.

Time for me to sit down and have a cuppa.  Sadly we have the heater going.  Feels like autumn is starting to kick in.  I checked the chooks aka ‘the girls’ just before and even they are huddled in one nesting box together tonight.  So much for summer!  Hoping you had a weekend filled with fun and jobs accomplished, or not!  Jacinta x

Help Is Never Far Away

It’s been a typically busy day with a couple of fun extras thrown in.  I went to make our bed this afternoon (yes, it took me most of the day to get to that) to discover toothpaste smeared across the sheets.  I had rescued the toothpaste from Jairah some hours earlier, but thought smugly to myself that I had retrieved it before any mess was made, how wrong was I!  At least we have lovely clean sheets to tuck ourselves under tonight and one less job for the weekend I suppose.

I put a load of washing on before reading the kids their book tonight before bed.  Midway through the book, I could hear a slight clunking noise.  Figured it must be something like a zipper hitting against the side of the washing machine.  Thought nothing more of it until I came out from tucking the girls into bed and the noise omitting from the laundry was now quite loud.  Went in to investigate, looked through the front of the washing machine and there against the glass, tumbling around with the clothes was a paint brush.  I had found Jairah in the laundry an hour or so before and asked him to come out.  What I didn’t realise is, he had so helpfully placed the paint brush in the washing machine for me.  To top it off, the paint brush had paint on it.  I had been painting earlier and had wrapped the brush in plastic wrap to prevent the paint drying in between coats. Haven’t checked the clothes, as the cycle is still going and of course being a front loader, I can’t open it to get the brush out.  I am assuming the clothes will be ok, as the paint is water based.  That will teach me to assume there is nothing in the washing machine before throwing a load on.  Oh, there really is never a dull moment around here.

Now if only I had a photo of Tenneille asleep on our bedroom floor today.  Priceless!

Woof, Woof!

I was at the supermarket with Jairah the other day.  It was much later in the day then I would normally go (well in truth I try to avoid the supermarket at all costs, not really sure what’s so ‘super’ to be honest) and knew that a distraction was in order to get the shopping done.  I headed for the pet food isle and grabbed a tin of dog food.  Jairah was very happy to tote the tin around the supermarket.  We made all sorts of dog noises and he happily showed everyone we passed his ‘dog’, referring to the picture on the tin.
It got me thinking about the little things we can do with little children present that if we tried while on our own we would be, well, looked upon as a little strange.  In this case I am talking about all the dog noises I was making for Jairah’s entertainment.  Barking while walking around a supermarket sure is something, though I must say the smile on Jairah’s face was worth looking a little silly for.  I try to make the most of these situations, because one day it just won’t be cool for mama to bark like a dog while pushing a shopping trolley!

What a Weekend

Well to say it rained is an understatement.   We had about 140mm of rain over Friday night and Saturday with monsoon type weather descending on these parts.  We had to go down the mountain to a birthday party yesterday which turned into a bit of an adventure as most of the roads were blocked.  Roads resembled rivers.  Plenty of people were pulled up on the side of the road taking photos of water.  I have no photos to show as I felt I would be contradicting myself after all the ranting I did while trying to drive around people’s cars that were poorly parked on the side of the road and don’t let me go on about one driver that tried very hard, but thankfully wasn’t successful, in trying to cause an accident.

We were without power for almost a day and a half.  We currently have our heater going.  Thought about lighting to wood fire, but all the kindling is wet!  Summer huh?  The frog that lives outside our bedroom is happy though.  It’s quite sweet being serenaded to sleep by it’s croaking (I’m serious, I love frogs).  We are safe and well and at the end of the day, that is what matters.  Hoping you spent your weekend high and dry.
