Snippets of Spring

It seems spring is starting to weave it’s way into our days.  Wattle is bursting out in bloom everywhere, daffodils are popping up, looking so sweet and friendly and the Rhododendrons are looking splendid.  We all went for a walk in the National Rhododendron Gardens in the lovely hills village of Olinda yesterday and spent lots of our time smelling the flowers and searching for Lyre birds (hmm, one needs to be pretty quiet to see them, thus we didn’t).  I’m hanging out for the cherry tree avenue, that is part of the gardens, to burst into bloom.  Not long now.  We are going back there on Father’s Day this coming weekend, as the kids really want to have a picnic there.  Fingers crossed it won’t rain.  It’s very family friendly and it’s free to get in.  A must visit if you find yourself in the Dandenong Ranges (and no, they didn’t pay me to say that).

Cute kookaburra

Don’t they make you smile!

More rhododendrons

One of the crazy big trees that grace this area. The kids could all fit inside.

This is the crazy big tree that the kids were posing in front of. Too tall to get the whole photo.

Of course the ‘pets’ had to come for the walk too! (Greg asked me to tell you that is Tenneille’s fluro scarf on his shoulder and not some new fashion trend:)

I must admit that I am looking forward to some warmer weather, but I won’t hold my breath, as it doesn’t really warm up here till November.  Are you noticing changes in the seasons too?

The daffodils are lovely. They are planted everywhere around Orange and I smile everytime I see their happy blooms.

Love the scarf! (I believe you when you say it isn’t his) The kids are getting bigger and leggier! I wish you some warmer weather 🙂

I can’t help but get a little tickled. You are so looking forward to warm weather and I’m over here dreaming of cooler temps. Tell Greg he wears Tenneille’s scarf well!

Looks like you all had a lovely day together! That wattle is so interesting. I’ve never heard of that – perhaps it doesn’t grow in the US? Or, at least where we are. Love that little kookaburra!

The seasons are *just* beginning to change here…we had a gorgeous stretch of sunny, not-too-hot/not-too-cold weather for about a week or so, and now we are back to horrid hot/humid days again. Bleccch. Am soooo looking forward to fall! Here’s hoping we both get what we’re yearning for!

great photos. we are also seeing the beginnings of spring with blossoms starting, roses shooting and of course the wattles. we’ve had a couple of nice sunny warm days here over the last two weeks so it is not too far away at all. if only summer would never arrive the year would be perfect lol

Can’t wait for a change of seasons here. Autumn is my favorite time. The cooler temps will be welcome! I love your pictures. The wattle blossoms are beautiful.
