These scrolls are so yummy. Â We make them about once a month as a special treat on the weekend. Â It’s really hard not to stop at one. Â They smell divine while cooking and are best eaten still warm from the oven with a nice hot cup of tea. Â They do take a while to prepare, but they are worth it, trust me. Â I use my bread maker to prove the dough, but you can also make them without a bread maker.
Scroll ingredients:
4 cups plain flour
2 eggs
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
3 tsp dry yeast
Filling ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/3 cup soften butter
Icing ingredients:
1 1/2 cup pure icing sugar
1/2 cup cream cheese
4 tbsp butter
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
Method:
Place filling ingredients in bread machine and select dough function. Â In the meantime, mix filling ingredients with electric beaters until light and soft. Â Put aside filling. Â Once dough has risen for the desired time in the bread machine, place it on a lightly floured surface and roll out until approximately 1/2 cm thick. Â Spread dough surface evenly with filling mix. Â Roll the dough up lengthwise. Â Cut roll up into 1.5cm pieces (approx, 1″).
Place on baking tray lined with baking paper. Â Leave scrolls to rise in a warm place for 1 hour. Â In the meantime, beat the icing ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Â Place scrolls in a pre-heated oven @180 degrees celsius (350F) for approximately 12 minutes or until golden brown. Â Once removed from the oven, place scrolls on a plate and top with icing mixture.
Enjoy! Â Jacinta x
