{"id":1121,"date":"2011-08-29T01:15:07","date_gmt":"2011-08-29T01:15:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/?p=1121"},"modified":"2011-08-29T01:15:07","modified_gmt":"2011-08-29T01:15:07","slug":"apple-rhubarb-crumble","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/?p=1121","title":{"rendered":"Apple &#038; Rhubarb Crumble"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I don&#8217;t think a Sunday night dinner is complete without a little something special. \u00c2\u00a0This apple and rhubarb crumble is no exception. \u00c2\u00a0It&#8217;s so yummy, it&#8217;s hard not to go back for seconds, if only is wasn&#8217;t so filling. \u00c2\u00a0 My kids love it too with a nice helping of cream.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/applerhubcrumble2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1123\" title=\"applerhubcrumble2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/applerhubcrumble2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"284\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/applerhubcrumble2.jpg 600w, http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/applerhubcrumble2-300x142.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(This recipe makes enough for one large crumble or two smaller.)<\/p>\n<p>1.5kg apple (I use a mix of apples for maximum flavour)<br \/>\n500gm rhubarb<br \/>\n1\/3 cup honey or sugar (you can adjust this amount to suit your taste)<br \/>\n1 cup flour (I use wholemeal spelt, but use what you prefer)<br \/>\n80gm butter<br \/>\n1\/3 cup brown sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 cup oats<br \/>\n1 tsp cream of tartar<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp bi carb soda (baking soda)<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp mixed spice<br \/>\n1 1\/2 cup water<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Peel, core and chop apples and place in pot along with chopped rhubarb. \u00c2\u00a0Place the apple skins and cores in a separate pot with 1 1\/2 cups of water. \u00c2\u00a0Cover and place this pot on stove to simmer for about 10 mins. \u00c2\u00a0Remove from stove and strain the juice off into the other pot containing the chopped apples and rhubarb. \u00c2\u00a0This adds extra flavour.<br \/>\nPlace the apple and rhubarb on the stove and simmer with the lid on until fruit has soften, stirring occasionally. \u00c2\u00a0Add desired amount of sugar or honey and stir through.
