{"id":1055,"date":"2011-07-25T12:28:50","date_gmt":"2011-07-25T12:28:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/?p=1055"},"modified":"2011-07-25T12:28:50","modified_gmt":"2011-07-25T12:28:50","slug":"hot-chocolate-anyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/?p=1055","title":{"rendered":"Hot Chocolate Anyone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are certainly in the depths of winter here and the fog didn&#8217;t lifted all day, therefore I declared that hot chocolate was in order. \u00c2\u00a0I must say this is a heart warming recipe and certainly acts as a pick-me-up on a cold, wet and grey day. \u00c2\u00a0I suggest you use the best quality cocoa and chocolate that you can afford, as that is what makes a hot chocolate <em>really<\/em> good. \u00c2\u00a0Scooping out some melted chocolate from the bottom of your cup, divine.<\/p>\n<p>If you aren&#8217;t a fan of chilli, you don&#8217;t need to add it, although the amount I add is barely detectable. \u00c2\u00a0As for the spices, you can add your favourite if you want. \u00c2\u00a0My choice is merely a serving suggestion. \u00c2\u00a0 I grate nutmeg from the whole nut. \u00c2\u00a0It has a stronger aroma and flavour than the powdered form.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Winter Warmer Hot Chocolate<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients to serve 4:<\/p>\n<p>4 cups (1 litre) soy milk<br \/>\n8-10 tsp good quality cocoa (I use Green &amp; Blacks 70% cocoa)<br \/>\n4 tsp honey<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp of mixed spice<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp of grated nutmeg<br \/>\nsmall pinch of chilli powder<br \/>\n8 pieces of good quality milk or dark chocolate (I use Green &amp; Blacks)<br \/>\nMarshmallows to taste<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>With a little of the milk, make a paste with the cocoa (to avoid lumps), then add it to a pot with the rest of the milk, cocoa, honey and spices and heat until very warm, but not boiling. \u00c2\u00a0Add a couple of pieces of good quality chocolate to the bottom of each cup and pour over hot chocolate. \u00c2\u00a0Add marshmallows if desired.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Alternatives:\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can use cow&#8217;s milk in lieu of soy.<br \/>\nAdd your own favourite spices.<br \/>\nSubstitute the honey for maple syrup, agave syrup or sugar if desired.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1057\" style=\"width: 553px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1057\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1057\" title=\"hotchoc2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"543\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc2.jpg 543w, http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc2-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 543px) 100vw, 543px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1057\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Those pieces of chocolate down the bottom turn into melted goodness!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1056\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1056\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1056\" title=\"hotchoc\" src=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc.jpg 400w, http:\/\/www.embracingitall.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/hotchoc-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1056\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Winter Warmer Hot Chocolate<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Scoop, stir and sip your way to pure indulgence. \u00c2\u00a0Enjoy!
